Job description

This is an exceptional opportunity to apply cutting-edge data science, machine learning, and AI research to real commercial challenges, working at the heart of a high-growth business while being supported by a specialist academic team at Northumbria University.

You will lead a transformation project, a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) that offers:

  • Leading and delivering a challenging and strategic R&D project on decarbonisation of the Built Environment that directly impacts the business and their clients.
  • Support from an academic team with specialist knowledge and experience relevant to the project.
  • Potential to be retained in a permanent position within the company at the end of the project.
  • Professional training and personal development opportunities.

You will be the driving force behind a 20-month Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP), leading the design and delivery of a data-driven sales intelligence platform. This will include building a consolidated data infrastructure, developing predictive AI/ML models, creating digital persona analytics, and delivering intuitive real-time dashboards that transform how durhamlane’s Sales Development Representative (SDR) teams identify and convert business opportunities.

Project description

The project is structured across four phases:

  • Exploration & Discovery: auditing durhamlane’s full data landscape, assessing data quality, architecture, and governance, and developing a strategic data roadmap
  • Algorithm Development: consolidating data into a centralised data lake and building AI/ML models for lead scoring, conversion prediction, campaign optimisation, and digital persona segmentation
  • Visualisation: designing and deploying production-ready, real-time dashboards that surface predictive insights to SDR teams and leadership
  • Project Closure: ensuring full operational handover, sustainability planning, and identification of future development opportunities

Throughout the project you will work collaboratively with academic supervisors at Northumbria University who bring specialist expertise in data science, AI, and human-centred design, ensuring the solutions you develop are grounded in the latest research and best practice.
