Job description
The purpose of this role is to lead the delivery of a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project between Grove Mechanical and North West Regional College (NWRC).
The Associate will develop and embed an advanced workflow to enhance Grove Mechanical’s digital delivery capability. The role will focus on transforming how site data is captured, analysed and integrated into structured BIM and Digital Twin environments to improve coordination, decision making, installation planning and commercial competitiveness. The role will contribute to Grove Mechanical’s strategic digital development, including preparation for ISO 19650-aligned BIM accreditation and the structured implementation of information management processes.
Project description
This project will enable Grove Mechanical to develop an advanced AI, drone, and VR-enabled digital capability that transforms how the company captures, interprets, and communicates construction and asset data. The vision is to create a next-generation workflow where drone surveys, site measurements, and photographic data are automatically processed through artificial intelligence to produce accurate, real-time BIM models and digital twins, which can be explored and validated in immersive VR environments.
The core objectives are to:
- develop AI tools that automate the interpretation of drone imagery, point-clouds, and on-site data;
- integrate these outputs into a structured BIM environment for rapid design coordination and decision-making;
- deploy VR to allow clients, designers, and site teams to visualise models, review progress, and identify issues before construction;
- create a scalable digital-twin framework that reduces errors, improves predictability, and enhances asset lifecycle understanding;
- embed the required technical skills, workflows, and knowledge within Grove Mechanical.
The innovation lies in the integration of AI, drone-based surveying, BIM, and VR into a unified, automated workflow. This capability cannot be purchased commercially and will give Grove Mechanical a leading-edge advantage, improving efficiency and enabling access to higher-value contracts.
