Job description
The University of Abertay and MacIntyre Chocolate Systems Ltd are offering a rare opportunity to lead a major project hosted within an industry leading company on a collaborative Knowledge Transfer Partnership. This is a unique opportunity to apply your academic achievement into industry setting. The successful candidate will be working mainly onsite at MacIntyre Chocolate Systems Ltd, Arbroath near Dundee (Angus, Scotland), but formally will be an employee of Abertay University in Dundee.
You will receive hands on mentoring support both from a senior company employee, the Company Supervisor, and an experienced academic related to their field, the Academic Supervisor.
The role will involve completing a project that requires your innovation and technical abilities.
As a KTP Associate you can expect:

Role Specific Duties and Responsibilities
• To develop and explore novel and innovative market applications for food and non-food products utilising established refiner conche processing technology.
• Perform tests to understand the limitations of the refiner conche on new ingredients.
• Optimise instrumental techniques and standard operating procedures for novel applications.
• Evaluate processing capabilities through the creation of recipes, validated by consumer testing.
• Build an information repository to capture new process/parameters supporting sales into new markets.
• To lead the KTP project, carrying out duties as specified on the project workplan and/or agreed by the local management committee.
• Follow and regularly update the workplan ensuring milestones as described on the workplan are achieved in a timely manner.
• To be committed to personal development relevant to the project throughout the lifespan of the project
• Manage and work effectively with principal stakeholders in both MacIntyre Chocolate Systems Ltd and University buildings (office, laboratories pilot plant and factory setting), adhering to all company and university regulations.

Engineering firm MacIntyre Chocolate Systems Limited, based in Arbroath, Scotland, is the market leader for the manufacture and sales of refiner conche machines, used globally to produce high quality pure milk, dark, compound and vegan chocolate, as well as creams, nut spreads, and reworking of products like coated biscuits.
MacIntyre generates revenue through the sales, servicing, and commissioning of refiner conche machines. Exports form 98% of current business with a client base covering 115 countries worldwide. MacIntyre design and manufacture refiner conches from 45kg to 6000kg batch capacity. Current clients include Mars, Nestle, McVitie’s and Tunnock’s.
