About the role

Based at Anaphylaxis UK headquarters in Frimley, Surrey (currently operating a hybrid working environment with 2 days per month in person in Surrey), you’ll work closely with leading experts from the University of Surrey School of Psychology, including Professor Christina Jones and Dr Warren Matofsky.

This is a 28-month fixed-term contract with the potential for a permanent position at Anaphylaxis UK upon successful completion of the project.

Who We’re Looking For

A highly motivated and forward-thinking Practitioner Psychologist who is:

  • Doctoral level trained in Clinical, Health, or Counselling psychology (British Psychological Society accredited).
  • HCPC (professionally) registered with experience in complex clinical assessment and intervention.
  • Skilled in delivering CBT across the lifespan.
  • Passionate about training, supervision, community psychology and clinical service innovation.
  • Experienced in research design, analysis (SPSS/Jamovi), and dissemination.
  • Comfortable working therapeutically and conducting research with children, young people, adults, and families.

Project description

For over 30 years, Anaphylaxis UK has empowered individuals and families affected by serious allergies through evidence-based support and advocacy across various sectors. Now, they’re expanding their mission to tackle the mental health challenges that often accompany allergic conditions.

The KTP project aims to:

  • Design and implement a bespoke, digitised Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)-based intervention to reduce allergy-related anxiety.
  • Develop and train helpline staff and volunteer support group leaders through consultation, and clinical leadership to create and deliver psychologically informed environment (PIE).
  • Position Anaphylaxis UK as a national leader in allergy-related mental health care, improving lives and reducing healthcare burdens.
