Project description

The University of Essex is pleased to be working with The Guide Association (‘Girlguiding’) on this KTP. About the business

Girlguiding is a leading organisation, dedicated to empowering girls and young women. Across the UK there are 300,000 Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers, who come together to laugh, learn, explore and have adventures, in communities across the UK and virtually.

Through various programs and activities, Girlguiding aims to build confidence, develop skills, and foster a sense of community and leadership among members. We offer a wide range of opportunities for girls aged 5 to 18, encouraging them to explore their interests, learn new skills such as outdoor survival, arts, and advocacy, and participate in community service projects.

Girlguiding emphasises inclusivity and diversity, welcoming girls from all backgrounds and abilities. We operate through a network of volunteers who serve as leaders and mentors, guiding girls through their Girlguiding journey.

Activities include camping, hiking, arts and crafts, and discussions on important social issues, providing girls with a supportive environment to grow, learn, and make lifelong friendships. Girlguiding also advocates for girls’ rights and voices on national and international platforms, promoting gender equality and empowering girls to become confident leaders in their communities.
