Job description
The Faculty of Business & Law at the University of Portsmouth, in collaboration with PETA Ltd., are seeking an innovative and motivated individual to join a prestigious Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) programme. This is an opportunity for a highly-motivated, innovative individual to excel and accelerate their career. This exciting project focuses on developing a Future Skills Navigator (FSN) tool, a data-driven diagnostic system that integrates labour market intelligence, benchmarking data, and stakeholder insights to identify current and future training needs within the engineering and technical sectors.
As the KTP Associate, you will lead the design, development, and implementation of the FSN tool, working at the interface of data analytics, systems architecture, and user-centred digital design. You will collaborate closely with PETA’s operational teams and academic experts from both the School of Organisations, Systems and People and the School of Computing. The role combines hands-on technical development with research-informed decision-making, offering the opportunity to lead a strategically important innovation project that will shape future training provision in the region. The Associate will lead, facilitate and manage the:
- Auditing and integrating diverse datasets (job adverts, benchmarks, PETA internal data)
- Developing diagnostic logic, scoring models, and analytics
- Designing user journeys and building prototype interfaces
- Conducting stakeholder engagement and qualitative and quantitative analysis
- Testing and refining the prototype through internal and external pilots
- Supporting rollout, training, documentation, and embedding
- Working together with KTP Associate 2 to ensure FSN outputs feed into curriculum development
Project description
The KTP project is jointly funded by Innovate UK and PETA Ltd. It will embed advanced labour market intelligence capabilities into PETA through the development of a Future Skills Navigator (FSN) diagnostic tool. The FSN will provide actionable insights into current and future skills needs, supporting curriculum innovation, employer engagement, and strategic workforce planning.
You will be based at PETA’s headquarters in Cosham, with regular support from University academics, the KTP Adviser, and the University’s KTP support team.
