Job description
An exciting opportunity has become available to work on a 28-month Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) between the University of Exeter and Intelligent AI Limited. The KTP will support the development and commercialisation of an AI-driven platform that automatically converts UK planning application drawings into structured building data, enabling insurers, brokers and property owners to improve risk assessment and generate more accurate reinstatement cost estimates through enhanced insight into internal property layouts.
The successful candidate will be employed by the University of Exeter and will spend the majority of their time working remotely in the Exeter region, with occasional visits to the University of Exeter and Exeter Science Park.
Job Purpose
- To work in collaboration with an Industry and Academic Supervisor to successfully deliver the following KTP Project: To support the development and commercialisation of an AI-driven platform that automatically converts UK planning application drawings into structured building data enabling insurers, brokers and property owners to improve risk assessment and generate more accurate reinstatement cost estimates through enhanced insight into internal property layouts.
- To actively contribute to the University of Exeter’s research activity through applying latest thinking to industrial challenges
- To transfer the latest academic thinking relative to the project into the company partner.
Project description
This KTP will embed UoE specialist AI and spatial-analytics expertise into Intelligent AI to develop and commercialise the UK’s first scalable platform that automatically converts planning application drawings into structured, high-value property intelligence to support Insurers, brokers and surveyors with property risk analysis and reinstatement valuations. Insurers currently depend on expensive manual surveys and incomplete datasets, resulting in inconsistent risk and reinstatement-cost assessments. Unlocking internal building layouts at national scale gives Intelligent AI a unique proprietary data asset and a strong competitive advantage across pricing, underwriting and property-risk evaluation.
The KTP Associate will be embedded within Intelligent AI Ltd to deliver the project objectives by:
- Adaptive Information Retrieval & Data Mining
- Multimodal Document Analysis & Information Extraction
- Computer Vision & Spatial Reasoning
- Entity Matching & Data Linking
- Uncertainty-Aware AI & Confidence Calibration
- Production AI Integration & Deployment
- Leading on R&D into planning data and drawings on over 40 million UK properties
This project will enable Intelligent AI Ltd to improve current processes and to enable future innovations and products to accelerate its strategic goals.
