Job description

Main Duties

To lead the KTP project, carrying out tasks as specified in the project workplan and/or as agreed by the Local Management Committee of the KTP, to include:

  1. Develop a real time machine vision system for object detection and classification in live video streams.
  2. Design and conduct experiments to identify illumination wavebands for multispectral imaging.
  3. Ensure system reliability and performance under real world operational conditions.
  4. Integrate multiple AI models into a single framework for existing hardware.
  5. Develop robust pre-processing methods for heterogeneous and noisy datasets.
  6. Design ethically compliant experiments involving human tissue samples.
  7. Ensure compliance with data handling, safeguarding, consent, and data protection requirements.
  8. Balance data quality and richness with ethical and regulatory constraints.
  9. Coordinate model development, testing, and validation activities.
  10. Manage stakeholder inputs from academic, industrial, and end user partners.
  11. Adapt project plans in response to feedback and technical challenges.
  12. Track progress against milestones and report outcomes to project stakeholders.

Project description

To carry out a 24-month Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project between UWE Bristol and Foster + Freeman. The project objective is to develop new and novel AI models/systems to ease usability of sophisticated technical instruments used for real-time detection/identification of materials of interest at crime scenes.
