Job description

Through the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Programme, CASC in partnership with Queen’s University Belfast have an exciting and unique employment opportunity for an innovative and motivated Computer/Data Science or relevant Engineering (Mechatronics, Electronics) graduate to work on a project to drive digital transformation by unlocking critical operational data and enabling seamless integration of automation and intelligent systems, strengthening CASC’s position as a trusted manufacturing partner for global OEMs in renewable energy, automotive, agricultural and material handling sectors.

One of the key benefits of this KTP role is access to a £5,500 training and development budget over the 33-month project.

This role is company-based and will be delivered in collaboration with the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre (AMIC) at Queen’s.

Essential Criteria

  • Hold or be about to obtain (by July 2026) at least a 2.1 Honours Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Data Science, or a relevant Engineering subject such as Mechatronics, Electronics or a closely related discipline. Where candidates hold an international degree, the equivalency of this to a UK degree classification (i.e. 1st class, 2.1, 2.2 etc.) must be evident.
  • Significant relevant experience in a manufacturing environment, in a related research field, or on a project focussed on digital transformation (may be demonstrated through the completion of a module, student project or placement).
  • Relevant experience of data modelling, programming and data visualisation (may be demonstrated through the completion of a module, student project or placement).
  • Relevant experience in planning, organising or contributing to projects (e.g. academic projects, group assignments, placements), with demonstrable knowledge of basic project management principles and/or tools (may be demonstrated through the completion of a module, student project or placement).
  • Ability to think logically, create solutions and make informed decisions.
  • A high level of numeracy and the ability to interpret data.
  • Good oral, written and presentation skills, with the demonstrable ability to explain technical concepts clearly and provide training/support to a range of stakeholders.
  • High level of IT skills.
  • Self-motivated, capable of working independently, with a drive and ambition to succeed.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a group.
  • Enthusiasm for research/project area.
  • Well organised, attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • An interest in staying with the Company (Associates are normally invited to apply for permanent positions).
  • Ability to take part in Associate management courses (requiring two one-week periods in England).
  • Willing/able to travel throughout the UK and Ireland and abroad as necessary.
  • Hold a current, valid UK driver’s licence and access to own transport to fulfill travel requirements between various work locations.
  • Ability to attend work place (CASC, Lisburn, Co. Antrim) and other work locations as required.

Desirable Criteria

  • Hold, or be about to obtain (by July 2026), a postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline such as digital manufacturing, AI or data-driven technologies.
  • Relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Relevant experience using data analysis and visualisation tools to support data-driven decision-making (may be demonstrated through the completion of a module, student project or placement).
  • Demonstrable awareness of and familiarity with modern digital architectures in manufacturing, including IoT, ERP, MES, MRP, or Unified Name Space (UNS) (may be demonstrated through the completion of a module, student project or placement).
  • Demonstrable awareness of industrial communication protocols (may be demonstrated through the completion of a module, student project or placement).
  • Demonstrable knowledge of prototyping or simulation tools used to create digital models of physical systems (may be demonstrated through the completion of a module, student project or placement).
  • Relevant experience of gathering data from sensors and/or machinery (may be demonstrated through the completion of a module, student project or placement).
  • Ability to deliver training and follow-up support to operatives.
  • Ability to influence people effectively.
  • Tenacious and committed to achieving goals.

Project description

Employed and supported by a team of academic experts from the University, you will be based at CASC, in Lisburn, County Antrim.

As a KTP Associate, you will lead on the delivery of the following key project stages:

  • Stage 1: Foundational Analysis: Internal Processes and External Technologies
  • Stage 2: Requirements and Baseline
  • Stage 3: Integration Baseline Understanding
  • Stage 4: Virtual Testing and Validation
  • Stage 5: Physical Build and Validation
  • Stage 6: Future State Scaling
