Job description
An exciting opportunity has become available to work on a 3-year Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) between the University of Exeter and Goonvean Group Ltd. The KTP will create digital twins of the manufacturing operations of different companies within the Goonvean Group.
The successful candidate will be employed by the University of Exeter and will spend the majority of their time working at Foundry and Fabrication Ltd in Totnes, Devon and at Goonvean’s head office in Cullompton, Devon, with regular visits to the University of Exeter and other group companies throughout the UK. They will be expected to work a hybrid pattern with 3-5 days based in the office.
Project description
This project aims to transform Goonvean’s acquisition and business improvement strategy through the innovative use of Digital Twins. As a high-growth business acquiring profitable manufacturing SMEs, Goonvean seeks to enhance productivity, efficiency and profitability across its portfolio.
The KTP associate will develop and embed within Goonvean:
• A Digital Twin methodology, using the Totnes Foundry as a case study, to identify productivity
improvements pre-acquisition and inform investment strategies/
• The ability to de-risk acquisitions through predictive insights and operational modelling.
• Digital Twin models that are scalable across different group business, with the goal of building a grouplevel digital twin.
These tools will help to de-risk acquisitions, identify improvement opportunities post-acquisition, inform investment planning and establish post-acquisition KPIs.
