Job description

An exciting opportunity has become available for a recent graduate to work full time on a 2-year Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) to develop an advanced Multi-Sensor Condition Monitoring System (MSCMS) for enhancing the Offshore Wind substation Platforms through a multi-sensing environment with reliable on-shore data communication.

Employed and supported by an academic team from the University, you will be based at Siemens Energy Limited’s premises in Manchester.

Qualifications we require:

  • Hold, or be about to obtain, a minimum 2:1 degree in a relevant field such as Electronic/Electrical or Communications Engineering.
  • Master’s/PhD in Electronics Engineering, Power System Engineering or a related discipline is desirable.

Application requirements:

  • Design of electronic circuit systems: multi-sensor technologies, signal conditioning and data acquisition with knowledge of applied engineering principles.
  • Knowledge of RF technologies, communication protocols, signal propagation and data transfer for the central dashboarding.
  • Know-how of energy harvesting/power management (harvesting methods & performance, power conversion efficiency).
  • The ability to work independently to resolve technical issues and work collaboratively.
  • Being receptive to new knowledge, such as understanding the harsh marine environment/dynamics of the envisioned multi-sensing condition monitoring solution.
  • Experience in designing/developing electronic sensing circuits/RF subsystems, and systems is desirable.
  • Exposure to good scientific practice and the ability to lead a technical complex project and to produce research outputs such as conference case studies/academic papers.
