About the business

Peterhead Port Authority is a 400-year-old Trust Port in North East Scotland, supporting the fishing, energy and commercial sectors. The Port’s governance framework ensures that it operates in a way that benefits the town of Peterhead and its stakeholders, providing a range of services, including port control, pilotage, towage, ship lift, slipway, drydock, weighbridge, and property leasing. .
Peterhead Port has over 50 years’ experience successfully handling the complete needs of the energy industry’s activities, from traditional oil & gas exploration through construction and hook-up to production and finally to decommissioning. In recent years the Port has become a key hub for the energy industry’s ongoing transition into new energy. Opportunities for the Port range from the support of Offshore Wind; predominantly with respect to ScotWind and INTOG, Carbon Capture and Storage – where the Port is expected to play a central role in supporting the Acorn Project as the CO2 import terminal, decommissioning of oil and gas assets, as well as potentially offshore wind assets, and the bulk export of clean fuels. In combination with the desire to increase support of these sectors is the requirement to continue and accelerate the Port’s own decarbonisation journey.
