Job description
Establishing a comprehensive understanding of the research requirements for the energy industry, through extensive and ongoing engagement with OEUK members, other trade bodies and policymakers.
Identification and assessment of the main data streams required to service the new economic intelligence function in OEUK, including primary macroeconomic aggregates, economic accounts and regularly produced energy outputs. You will be required to establish and maintain relationships with the main data providers, such as ONS and DESNZ.
Identification and assessment of the modelling tools to help address the main research questions, including Input-Output and Computable General Equilibrium Modelling, quasi -experimental techniques and qualitative research techniques.
Demonstration of the impact that these tools can have in addressing research questions, to ensure buy -in and support from members for the economic intelligence function.
People and change management challenges include training OEUK staff how these models can be used in practice to generate economic impact results, and how these can be deflated, discounted, interpreted and presented. The Associate must put in place processes and procedures to ensure these improvements are sustained and permanent

The project will increase OEUK in-house economic knowledge to better serve the energy transition by examining the capability and capacity of UK energy supply chain and providing a way forward to enhance its strategic role in building a net zero future, growing the economy, and providing a generation of new job opportunities.
