Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Associate to join a KTP project between Professor Qi’s research group at the University of East Anglia and Condimentum Ltd, based in Norwich.

KTP projects are a three-way relationship between a graduate, university, and a company. This unique opportunity allows a graduate to be based in a company delivering a high-profile strategic project, drawing on university expertise, support and transferring knowledge into the company.

As a KTP Associate you will be responsible for leading and delivering a challenging commercial project that directly impacts the business, with the opportunity to be a champion of real change. You will arrange monthly project meetings and report on a quarterly basis to the project steering group known as the Local Management Committee (LMC).

This KTP project is an exciting opportunity to work on a collaboration between Condimentum Limited (CL) and the University of East Anglia (UEA). Condimentum Ltd was incorporated in 2017 after Unilever plc divested its Colman’s Mustard operation in Norwich after 160 years. The company is majority owned by local farmers of mustard and mint – dedicated to retaining a mustard industry for the UK.

The KTP Associate will be based at Condimentum and embedded within the Product Development Team. You will be responsible for data collection and analysis, which will directly enable the development of the toolkit.

As a KTP Associate, you will be employed by the University of East Anglia but will work at Condimentum Ltd premises at Colmans Close, Food Enterprise Park, Easton, Norwich, Norfolk, NR9 5FG, supervised by both a company staff member and an academic at the University.

You will have a BSc Hons in a related subject, preferably in the field of food sciences, chemistry, material sciences, chemical engineering, or physics. A Masters or PhD qualification would be advantageous. You will have experience conducting relevant project work, placement and/or work experience, have experience completing regular written reports and contributing to collaborative decision making. An understanding of how to apply research to a commercial scenario, and an ability to deliver a significant and challenging technical project whilst engaging others is also key.

This full-time post is available on a fixed term basis for 27 months.

UEA offers a variety of flexible working options and although this role is advertised on a full-time basis, we encourage applications from individuals who would prefer a flexible working pattern including annualised hours, compressed working hours, part time, job share, term-time only and/or hybrid working. Details of preferred hours should be stated in the personal statement and will be discussed further at interview.

Closing date: 21 September 2025

Starting salary from £31,236 per annum, dependent on skills and experience, with an annual increment up to £37,694 per annum.

The University holds an Athena Swan Silver Institutional Award in recognition of our advancement towards gender equality.
