Qualifications
The associate will be at postgraduate level with at least an MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related subject.
Experience
- Strong knowledge of software engineering, computer science fundamentals, and key frameworks (including Data Structures & Algorithms).
- Skilled in UI/UX design, DevOps practices, and working with SQL/NoSQL databases and associated tools.
- Ability to translate customer requirements into technical solutions and implement them as high‑quality, tested code.
- Proficient in programming, solution deployment, and applying user‑centric development methods.
- Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently, within teams, and under pressure.
Project description
As the Associate, the successful candidate will lead a Knowledge Transfer Partnership project between University of Suffolk and J McCann & Co Ltd at their Melton, Suffolk office to develop an operational optimisation app to enhance the performance and efficiency of the Suffolk Streetlighting contract. Through this, the project will also create and embed a fully modern software development team and culture into the business, giving the company the long-term capability to create and maintain software applications to drive strategic growth.

Additionally, the council is entrusted with maintaining 10,500 assets within parishes in Suffolk and 1,200 assets within parishes in Norfolk.
