Job description
> Project manage and support the delivery of the Knowledge Transfer Partnership work plan which
includes:
-Review of the Diffusion Allloys (UK) Limited’s business model. This will include a review of the
current business model, including the training and familiarisation of the current metal coating
process alongside understanding the parameters of Chromium Evaporation Cr (VI)
-Familiarisation with the methodology and existing data on the utilisation of Electrochemical
Sensor Cell (ESC)
for Cr (VI) chemistry recording and subsequent ESC design and laboratory experimental facilities
set-up
-Production and Characterisation of Aluminising Coatings for Cr (VI) testing through ESC
quantification technique
-ESC fabrication, final preparation, and experimental setup for Cr (VI) measurement
-Modelling and Quantification of Cr (VI) evaporation rates, and its suppression, by different
coatings.
-Optimisation and Characterisation of Diffusion Coatings for Enhanced Performance and Reduced Cr
(VI)
-Supporting Diffusion Alloys UK Ltd’s Senior teams to commercialise the services developed within
the project.
> Co-author and present academic papers to relevant journals/conferences.
> Contribute to KTP evaluation and final reports.
> Promote Equality and Diversity for staff and students and embrace the University’s Values and

> Adhere to the University’s & Diffusion Alloys UK Ltd’s Health and Safety Policy and guidelines.
> Adhere to the General Data Protection and The Data Protection Act 2018.
> Any other reasonable duties that may be allocated from time to time commensurate with the
grading of the post.
Project description
Working with Diffusion Alloys (UK) Limited whose core business model is the application of a range
of protective coatings across multiple parts to prevent metal degradation.
The role is to support the development of analytical capabilities to enable quantification of
their coatings’ performance against chromium evaporation and metal degradation, notably within
emerging green-hydrogen applications.
This position is initially for a 27 month fixed term contract, employed by Teesside University but
working predominantly at the company partner premises day to day. The appointed candidate will have
25 days holiday (plus bank holidays) and access to a generous training budget tailored towards
their personal development.
They will also benefit from working with industry leading technology and supervision from a
multi-disciplinary academic research team from Teesside University including Dr Venkatesan Krishnan & Dr Jinoop Arackal
Narayanan.
