Job description
This KTP is a great opportunity for someone who wishes to plan and deliver business change. You will work with senior University academics on a commercial project which puts theory and modelling into practice.
Candidate Profile: Minimum Masters’ level degree in Machine Learning (ML) and/or Data Analytics with relevant practical / work experience in the field. A PhD would be desirable.
Skills/ experience required include:
Essential
Robust knowledge and demonstrable project experience in Machine Learning and Generative AI
Semantic content annotation
Data mining
Predictive analytics
Experience with GPT-3
Experience in Natural Language Processing
Good communication skills at all levels including the ability to train staff and work with diverse user groups
Strong time management skills
Ability to problem solve
Experience in the following would be desirable:
Reinforcement learning
System integration, evaluation and optimisation
User centric GUIs and User Experience
Federated Learning
Deep Learning
AI-enabled error correction in data sets
Generative AI for automatic report generation
Automatic annotation and profiling of data assets
Experience with Chatbot, such as GPT-4 and Llama 2
Project Management
Experience in producing academic publications of the highest standards
Technical writing and reporting
Experience with cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure, is highly desirable
Main responsibilities:
Familiarise with existing business technologies, which will be essential in the development of the ILSP to ensure effective integration of systems.
Handling large amounts of data from disparate databases and formats.
Take account of Harper James’ clients requirements in terms of service and the need for accuracy and consistency in the results from the ILSP.
Embed the knowledge into the business to continue the project legacy.

Aston University: You will work in a project team with Dr Amal Htait and Prof Abdul Sadka from Aston University and the Senior Management Team at Harper James with further support of the IUK’s Knowledge Transfer Adviser.
Location: You will be based predominantly at Harper James office in Birmingham. You will also have access to facilities at Aston University in central Birmingham. Some travel to key clients may also be required.

This Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project will develop an AI-enabled Intelligent Legal Service Platform (ILSP) to transform legal workflows by automating repetitive legal tasks and streamlining legal processes, which will be unique in the sector. The ILSP will be a connected framework for multiple data points and their interaction with all Harper James’ business areas.
