Sustainable Design Innovation for Medical and Pharmaceutical Devices (KTP Associate)

The KTP Associate will be employed by the University of Strathclyde and seconded to Shore Design for the duration of the project.

The Associate will lead the delivery of a structured, three-year programme of work to integrate sustainability principles, tools, and methodologies into Shore product design and development processes. This will include the development of life cycle thinking, circular design strategies, and evidence-based sustainability metrics that can subsequently be used in the design and development of medical and pharmaceutical devices as and when required by project briefs.

The role and work outcomes will also be instrumental in promoting sustainable design services to Shore’s existing and future clients, and influencing the wider healthcare industry in the adoption of more sustainable practices.

This Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) is a strategic collaboration between Shore Design Consultancy Limited, an award-winning medical device design consultancy based in Edinburgh, and the University of Strathclyde.

The project will embed advanced design-for-sustainability capability within Shore Design, enabling the development of a portfolio of sustainable medical and pharmaceutical device case studies and strengthening the company’s long-term innovation and commercial offering.
