Thermal Product Design Engineer (KTP Associate)

Job Purpose

Innovate UK are funding Puffin Packaging Ltd and the University of Huddersfield via a
Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) to develop new packaging solutions that can
maintain specific temperature ranges, over a desired time, using innovative phase-change
technologies paired with sustainable insulation products, and provide a comprehensive
packaging solution.
As the Thermal Product Design Engineer (KTP Associate), you will be responsible for the
successful management and delivery of this 24-month project, with the advice and
guidance of both company and university-based supervisors.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. To design and develop a range of new packaging solutions that can meet pharmaceutical requirements.
2. To establish robust testing procedures for the new products, providing quantitative information for marketing purposes.
3. To develop toolkits for assessment of new products and materials.
4. To develop an understanding of product development, from concept to product launch incorporating quality assurance, marketing and supply chain.
5. To prepare and produce research reports, project progress reports and other documentation (including assistance with joint publications).
6. To manage a range of stakeholders involved in the project.
7. To project manage the KTP budgets and ensure delivery of workplan.
8. To undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade of the post that might be required.

You will quickly gain an understanding of the company and market opportunities, in order to develop a number of novel packaging solutions. Utilising your chemical/materials or engineering academic background, and ability to engage and build relationships with
stakeholders, you will develop a strategic plan to identify, develop, test, and commercialise a range of innovative, sustainable and cost-effective packaging solutions and meet pharmaceutical packaging and transport requirements.
